So as the summer comes to a rapid close we have begun bracing ourselves for the new school year. Our boys have been out of school since before Memorial Day, and will return within a week’s time. August 1st will be the start of a new school year and for us a parents a new era as our youngest son finally enters the school system. With shopping for school supplies, new school clothes, shoes, weather appropriate PJs (which are really expensive by the way), backpacks and so on…We ramp up to send 3 off this year.
We have Meet & Greets scheduled for two kids on the same day, we have sports try-outs and registrations due, and We. Could. Not. Be. Happier! As we roll into our fall schedule and bid the summer adieu, though the 100 degree temperatures will not depart us for another 2-2.5 months, we look forward to the schedule shaping our days to have some predictability and most importantly… some balance. To end the summer with a bang my husband and I have decided to prank our kids. Something we have been on the wrong side of far too many times!
So the other night we received an automated call from the school about a Mock Run Thru the buses will do on the Friday before school starts. Its a great way for parents of young and new students to feel more comfortable about the routine come Monday. And that is when it hit me! We will tell the boys that School will start a day early. With the buses coming thru right on schedule, this will make it even more believable!
So our plan…Friday morning, July 29th we will wake the boys at 6am. Dress, feed and take 1st day of school pictures like we always do and take them to the bus stop. But…When the bus comes it will be near empty and there they will be standing in their new school gear and backpack. Hahahaha! We plan to record this, so…you may see some footage depending on how it goes. We are literally giddy…
